Non Sparking Hand Tools

Non-sparking tools provide protection against fire and explosion in environments concerning ignition of flammable solvents, vapors, liquids, dusts or residues caused by sparks. Many standards advise the use of non-sparking tools in hazardous environments. Non-sparking hand tools are currently manufactured from Copper Beryllium and Aluminium Bronze alloys. CuBe tools have non-sparking characteristics and good strength, however they have a major disadvantage of being a hazardous material and hence handling, machining and disposing the tools pose a safety concern thereby adding to the high cost. On the other hand, while Aluminium-Bronze tools are Beryllium free, they lack the strength required for Hand Tools and hence breaking quite often and requires frequent replacements. Also, the Iron content in the alloy makes it unsuitable for non-magnetic applications, thus posing further limitations.
